A reliable handyman Ottawa homeowners can call for the jobs that pile up: the door that will not latch, the caulking that turned black, the shelf that never got hung. SecuReno offers Ottawa handyman services with the same crew and the same standards as our renovations, just on a smaller scale.
You get a clear hourly rate or a flat price up front, a real arrival window, and a list of jobs done in one visit instead of five.
Every house has a list. The interior door that sticks since the humidity changed, the towel bar that pulled out of the drywall, the caulking around the tub that has gone dark, the bathroom fan that rattles. None of them are a renovation. All of them are annoying, and most contractors will not come out for them.
We will. The same crew that builds our kitchens and bathrooms does our handyman work, so the repairs are done properly, not patched. And because we batch the list into one visit, you pay for one trip instead of five. Bring us the whole list, and we will tell you what fits in a morning.

Ontario draws clear lines, and a good handyman tells you where they are instead of pretending they do not exist.
If a handyman offers to do electrical or gas work without a licence, that is the moment to find another handyman.
If it is on your list and it is not electrical or gas, we can almost certainly do it. These are the jobs we get called for most.

Tubs, showers, sinks, windows and baseboards. Old caulking removed, surface cleaned, new mould-resistant caulking applied. Small, cheap and the best water-damage prevention in the house.
When caulking is not enough: bathroom renovationsTV mounting on drywall, brick or above a fireplace, shelves, mirrors, curtain rods, blinds, grab bars and furniture assembly, including the flat-pack pieces that came with 200 screws.
Baseboards, casing, crown moulding, shiplap, accent walls, closet organizers and the small carpentry that finishes a room.
New floors with new baseboardsFaucets, toilets, vanities, bathroom fans, dishwashers and other fixture swaps in the same location. Anything that needs new wiring or gas, we bring in the licensed trade.
The same crew that builds our kitchens and bathrooms does the small jobs. Repairs are done properly, not patched to look done.
Hourly rate or flat price agreed before we start. No call-out fee buried in the total and no surprise on the invoice.
We batch everything on your list into one trip. You pay for one visit, not five.
Electrical and gas go to licensed trades every time. We tell you before you ask, because that is what protects your home and your insurance.
Handyman or contractor? A handyman handles repairs, installations and small improvements that do not need a permit or a licensed trade. A contractor handles renovations, structural work and anything with permits and multiple trades. Most of what is on a homeowner's list is handyman work, and it costs a fraction of calling a contractor for each item.
Call or send the form with everything on the list, with photos if you have them. We tell you what fits in one visit and what it will cost.
Hourly rate or flat price for the whole list, agreed in writing before we book the visit.
We arrive in the window we gave you, work through the list, and bring the right tools and materials the first time.
Every job checked, dust and debris cleaned, and a short list of anything we noticed that you might want to handle next.
Handyman work is priced one of two ways: by the hour for a list of small jobs, or as a flat price for a single defined job like a door installation or a TV mount. We tell you which one makes sense for your list before we book.
Batching saves the most. A single visit for six small jobs costs far less than six separate call-outs, because travel and setup are paid once. Bring the whole list, even the things you think are too small to mention.
Materials are separate and transparent. If a job needs a new door, a fan, caulking or hardware, we either install what you have bought or source it and show you the receipt. No markup hidden in the labour.
Licensed trades cost more, and should. If something on your list turns out to be electrical or gas, we bring in the licensed contractor and their rate applies to that item. We tell you that up front rather than doing it wrong for cheap.
We do not publish a flat rate card because a five-minute caulking job and a three-hour door replacement are different things. What we do is give you the price before we come. Send your list and we will price it the same day.
Ask any handyman for the price before they come. If they will not give one, keep looking.
Most of the handyman calls we get in Ottawa follow the seasons. In spring, doors that swelled shut over the humid months and caulking that cracked when the house dried out in winter. In fall, weatherstripping, exterior door seals and the storm door that never closed right, all before the first cold snap. And year round, the drywall damage, loose towel bars and flat-pack furniture that every house collects.
The climate is the reason so many of these repeat. Eight months of dry heating shrinks wood doors and trim and opens joints, then humid summers swell them back. A door that was planed in July will stick again in January if it was planed too much. We fix these for the full cycle, not just for today.
The housing stock matters too. Post-war bungalows in Alta Vista and Gloucester have original doors and trim that need patient repair rather than replacement. Family homes from the 1960s to 1980s across Nepean and Orleans have hollow-core doors and plaster-over-drywall walls that need the right anchors. Newer builds in Kanata, Barrhaven and Stittsville mostly need builder-grade fixtures upgraded and the small things finished. We work in all of them every week.
Not sure if your list is a handyman job or a renovation? Call and read it to us. We will tell you honestly, and if it is a small job, that is what we will quote.
Handyman work is priced by the hour for a list of small jobs, or as a flat price for a single defined job. Batching several jobs into one visit is the biggest saving, because travel and setup are paid once. SecuReno gives you the price before booking, with materials shown separately.
General repairs, installations and small improvements: doors, trim, drywall patches, caulking, mounting, assembly, fixture swaps in the same location. Electrical work must be done by an ESA-licensed electrical contractor and gas appliances by a TSSA-certified technician. A handyman who offers to do those without a licence is a red flag.
For small jobs, a handyman is far cheaper because there is no project management, no permits and no multiple trades. For renovations, structural changes or anything needing permits, you need a contractor. Most of what is on a typical homeowner's list is handyman work.
No. Send your list with photos and we price it the same day. For jobs that need a site visit to price properly, we combine the visit with the work whenever we can so you are not paying for a separate trip.
Legally, electrical work in Ontario must be done by an ESA-licensed electrical contractor, and that includes fixtures and outlets. We bring in a licensed electrician for those items rather than doing them ourselves. Anything that plugs in, like mounting a TV, is fine.
A small patch, like a doorknob hole, is a quick job usually done with other items on your list. Larger holes, water damage and ceiling repairs take longer and may need two visits for the compound to dry. See our drywall repair page for bigger jobs, or send a photo and we will give you a number.
Both. A single door repair or TV mount is fine, we will give you a flat price. But if you have three or four other things, add them to the same visit and the per-job cost drops.
Most handyman visits are booked within a few days, sometimes faster if a crew is already in your area. Tell us if it is urgent, like an exterior door that will not lock, and we will move it up.
